Introducing a new ‘Helping You Care’ service

Exciting news!

We’re delighted to share that Crossroads Caring for Life will soon be delivering a brand-new preventative carer support service in North Herts and Stevenage, starting 1st May 2025. This service, called Helping You Care, is designed to offer proactive, localised support for unpaid carers — helping you stay well, feel supported, and continue your caring role with confidence. The programme is proudly funded by Hertfordshire County Council

Crossroads will be able to provide 12 hours of funded carer respite over 8 weeks and look to enable you getting ongoing breaks through County council or self-funded support.

While Helping You Care will be available specifically in North Herts and Stevenage, we’ll continue to support carers across other areas of Hertfordshire through our existing services. Please note that these other services will need to be either self-funded or commissioned by Herts County Council, where eligible.

To access the Helping You Care service, carers must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an unpaid carer not currently supported by Adult Care Services

  • Support someone living in the North Herts or Stevenage area

  • Not have received a carer's assessment from Hertfordshire County Council

  • Be aged 18 or over

We’re here to help you feel more connected, confident, and cared for — because your wellbeing matters too.
